Welcome to the Jemsek Specialty Clinic
A CAPITAL MOVE FOR THE JSC
Every journey worth taking is usually accompanied by some unexpected twists and turns. After navigating a few bumps in the road on our transition to Washington, D.C., the Jemsek Specialty Clinic is pleased to announce that our new facility officially opened its doors last month.
The event marks a milestone that would not have been possible without the tremendous support of our patients and the wonderful work achieved by our staff. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion the move has caused and greatly appreciate your patience as we work to provide continued excellence in medical care.
The last few weeks have been an adventure in moving furniture (even Dr. J broke a sweat!), transferring records, fine-tuning logistics, and coordinating schedules. Renovations and upfits to the new 5,200-square-foot office space in Washington were completed on schedule, and the clinic is rapidly filling a quality staff of DC-based nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and front-office personnel.
"This is an exciting step on our journey," Dr. Jemsek said of the clinic's move to Washington. "I am continually amazed and humbled by the support we have received from patients and will be forever grateful for the hard work and dedication of our loyal South Carolina staff."
The JSC is happy to report that some initial technical problems with our phone lines have been resolved, and that patients can now schedule and confirm appointments by calling our DC clinic at (202) 955-0003, or faxing (866) 457-0397.
Clinic staff is currently scheduling appointments through February and early March, for new patients and return visits for patients receiving oral-antibiotics. Previously scheduled appointments for patients receiving IV treatments remain unchanged. Dr. Jemsek continues to balance a schedule of working in Washington for a minimum of ten days at a stretch and spending four days in Charlotte with his family.
To help facilitate the transition to Washington, Elizabeth Ballas, known to many for her work with CaringBridge, has been hired as JSC Patient Advocate. Elizabeth is currently developing informational brochures and updated website material that includes clinic resources, expanded contact information, and travel and lodging guides to help ensure that the patient experience goes as smoothly as possible.
The clinic's new location in Washington, D.C., at 2440 M Street N.W., Suite 205, is located less than two miles from the White House and about a mile from the Georgetown neighborhood. The new facility is easily accessible from the Foggy Bottom Washington Metro station, and is less than a six-mile taxi drive from Reagan National Airport. For patients driving into the city, the clinic building has ample underground parking available.
The Jemsek Specialty Clinic looks forward to providing the best possible patient care in our new facility, and will continue work to minimize any inconvenience the transition has caused. We extend our sincere thanks for your cooperation and patience.
