CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - STORY UPDATE: The multi-award winning documentary "Under Our Skin" is playing now at the Ballantyne Village Theater. Described as "a dramatic tale of microbes, medicine & money, this eye-opening film investigates the untold story of Lyme disease, an emerging epidemic larger than AIDS."

The film runs through Thursday evening.

Ticks get more active in the spring, and these blood sucking bugs can carry dangerous diseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Lyme Disease.

Last Thursday at 5:30, Melinda Nielson and her 13 year old son Bryce joined Tonia Bendickson to talk about the disease, and how it's affecting their lives.

It may not reflect the opinion of the general medical community, as opinion within the medical community is deeply divided regarding the best approach for treating Lyme disease.
